Set the standard for every file we deliver. Quality Estimates is a specialty auto and heavy equipment damage appraisal firm serving risk management entities, TPAs, heavy equipment fleets, and counties and cities. Our clients expect accuracy, complete documentation and professionalism on every claim. We're looking for a professional with insurance company experience, ideally a material damage manager at a carrier, to recruit, train and manage our appraisers and hold every file to that standard. You'll work alongside our dispatcher and report to the owner, with a clear path to a Director role as the firm grows.
About Quality Estimates
Quality Estimates, Inc. is a specialty auto and heavy equipment damage appraisal firm in Glendora, California. We serve risk management entities, third-party administrators (TPAs), heavy equipment fleets, and counties and cities, and they need files that hold up to scrutiny in subrogation, litigation and public review. We specialize in heavy equipment, commercial fleet, RV, subrogation demand review and total-loss files. We'd rather do fewer files right than many files fast. Every file runs through our own claims system, QE Dispatch.
What you'll do
- Recruit and onboard appraisers: find, vet and sign up new appraisers, check experience, references and insurance, and fill coverage gaps across California.
- Train the team on carrier guidelines, CCC ONE standards, our photo requirements and QE Dispatch.
- Own quality: review field, desk and total-loss files before they go to clients, and coach appraisers whose work needs correction.
- Manage workload with our dispatcher: balance assignments by location, specialty and turnaround.
- Handle escalations: supplements, reinspections, re-writes and adjuster concerns about an appraiser's work.
- Track performance: turnaround time and feedback for each appraiser.
- Write files yourself when volume or complexity calls for it, including heavy equipment and commercial vehicles.
What matters most
Professionalism is non-negotiable here. Experience gets you an interview. These four things get you the job:
- You communicate clearly. Adjusters, appraisers and vehicle owners always know where a file stands, because you told them first. Your emails and calls are direct, respectful and easy to act on.
- You stay professional under pressure. An adjuster disputes an estimate, an appraiser misses a deadline, an owner is upset. You stay calm, get the facts, and solve the problem without taking it personally.
- You're motivated, driven and want to grow. You don't wait to be told. You see what needs doing, own it, and push to make the team and the firm better. You want to grow your career and help expand the firm into new clients and markets, and you'll share in that growth: profit sharing will be available in the future for the right person.
- You stay current with technology, especially AI. You're quick to learn new systems and you already use AI tools to work faster, from reviewing estimates to drafting reports, while checking every result yourself.
What you bring
- Insurance company experience (required): material damage manager at a carrier preferred; material damage supervisor, adjuster or staff appraiser considered
- Auto and heavy equipment experience (required): 5+ years in material damage claims covering both auto and heavy equipment
- Total loss procedures (required): CCC ONE valuations, comparable vehicles and condition adjustments, California's total-loss settlement regulations, salvage bids, branded and salvage titles, storage and towing charges, and the documentation a carrier needs to settle
- Expert in CCC ONE and common carrier guidelines (labor rates, parts, total-loss thresholds)
- Experience training, reviewing or supervising other appraisers or estimators
- Organized enough to keep many open files moving at once
- Comfortable managing work through web-based software
- Able to work Pacific time business hours
We want someone who has worked inside a carrier: you know how adjusters judge an appraiser's work, what a carrier's guidelines and audits expect, and what makes an independent firm worth using.
Nice to have: risk management, public-entity or self-insured claims experience; independent appraisal firm experience; commercial truck or RV estimating; desk review or subrogation review experience; Spanish.
